Synopsis
Après presque trois ans de travail et avec l’aide de près de 200 bénévoles, l’association Maple Leaf est fière de présenter Little Black Devils – From Juno To Putot : l’histoire du Royal Winnipeg Rifle (un des bataillons de la 3rd Canadian Infantry Division) dans les premiers jours de l’Opération Overlord. S’appuyant sur le travail exceptionnel de Frederick Jeanne et de son ouvrage Hold the Oak Line, ce film retrace le rôle décisif que les Canadiens ont eu à jouer lors de la Bataille de Normandie. Au travers de plusieurs récits et témoins directs, découvrez ces épopées humaines extraordinaires, véritables traits d’union entre l’histoire et les générations présentes et futures. Des côtes anglaises à l’épreuve du débarquement de Juno Beach ; de la libération du village de Creully aux terribles affrontements de Putôt-en-Bessin avec la SS-Panzergrenadier-Division 12 « Hitlerjugend », suivez ces petits diables noirs lors de leur entrée dans le conflit mondial.
Trop souvent oubliées et bien trop peu médiatisées, ce film à pour vocation de mettre en avant les troupes anglo-canadiennes qui ont durement combattu, qui sont mortes ou ont été blessées physiquement ou moralement lors de ces affrontements pour la libération de l’Europe.

After almost three years’ work, and with the help of nearly 200 volunteers, the Maple Leaf Association is proud to present Little Black Devils – From Juno To Putot: the story of the Royal Winnipeg Rifle (one of the battalions of the 3rd Canadian Infantry Division) in the early days of Operation Ovelord. Based on the exceptional work of Frederick Jeanne and his book « Hold the Oak Line« , this film retraces the decisive role played by Canadians in the Battle of Normandy. Through a number of first-hand accounts and witnesses, discover these extraordinary human epics, true links between history and present and future generations. From the English coast to the ordeal of the Juno Beach landing; from the liberation of the village of Creully to the terrible clashes at Putôt-en-Bessin with SS-Panzergrenadier-Division 12 « Hitlerjugend », follow these little black devils as they enter the global conflict.
All too often forgotten and given far too little media coverage, this film is designed to highlight the Anglo-Canadian troops who fought hard, died or were wounded, physically or morally, during these confrontations for the liberation of Europe.
