D-DAY EXPERIENCE
A strategic objective for the Allies, the capture of Carentan was essential for linking the troops landing on Utah and Omaha beaches. The mission was entrusted to the paratroopers of the U.S. 101st Airborne Division, who would have to face their German counterparts: the formidable Fallschirmjäger. It was to be the clash of the paratroopers.
Located in Saint-Côme-du-Mont, whose capture was a necessary prerequisite for taking Carentan, D-Day Experience is the only museum to offer a dual perspective on the events.
After learning about the preparations for the Normandy jump and attending Colonel Wolverton’s briefing, take your place aboard a real C-47 aircraft converted into a dynamic flight simulator to relive the crossing of the English Channel on the night of D-Day.
Thanks to a modern and immersive museography—including a new 500 m² space available from June 2019—you can follow the combat evolution from June 6 to June 12, 1944, the date of Carentan’s final liberation.
Next, discover the historic house at the “Dead Man’s Corner”, occupied by German paratroopers from June 6 to June 8, where their command post and infirmary have been faithfully recreated.
To better understand the stakes of these battles and place them within the broader context of the D-Day Landings and the Battle of Normandy, watch the film D-Day Normandy 1944, projected in 3D on a Giant 3D screen for a unique visual and sound experience…
Two museums, a flight simulator, a 3D cinema—D-Day Experience engages all your senses. Stop learning history—live it!
